The Process of Creating the Museo Atlantico
Locals from Lanzarote acted as models. Jason said that it was important that those who live on the island feel like owners and are involved in what he created.
The subject is covered in a layer of Acrylic resin

From this a mould is made followed by a plaster form

Finally a ph neutral concrete sculpture is created

Each sculpture took 5 to 6 weeks to complete and total number created for the museum is over 300
By making artificial reefs in the form of the sculptures, algae and corals take hold and fish can find shelter and food.

Seeing the progression of this newly developing reef is a magical experience and one we love to do and share with fellow divers.
