Lanzarote - A Work of Art

December 4, 2017

Imagine this beautiful island as an unframed work of art just like the late, great Cesar Manrique, known to many as the

"First Artist of Lanzarote".

Manrique wanted to showcase and share the stunning landscape of Lanzarote with the world and at the same time protect it from over development.

This he achieved by developing the natural landscape into amazing places for visitors and by educating the locals to preserving this most magical of islands.

His enhancements of the masterpiece include the volcanic lakes and caves of the Jameos del Agua

His subterranean volcanic bubble home

And a scattering of Wind Sculptures that turn in the breeze like giant wind chimes

Manrique not only succeeded in protecting the island from over development but his work also influenced many other artisans and has helped create what we think is a really unique and beautiful island.
